Established in 1968 with a capacity of 110 beds, our hospital expanded to 510 beds in 2005, extending its healthcare services to a much broader population. As its existing facilities became insufficient to meet growing and evolving healthcare demands, the hospital relocated to its current state-of-the-art campus on April 3, 2017. The new facility, comprising 196,071 square meters of enclosed space, has since continued to operate under the name Balıkesir Atatürk City Hospital.
On July 26, 2020, the hospital was officially accredited by the Ministry of Health as a 1,100-bed Training and Research Hospital. In August 2021, it entered into an academic affiliation with the University of Health Sciences. In 2024, several departments were accredited as training clinics for the first time, and resident training programs were launched in accordance with the results of the 2024 Second Term Medical Specialization Examination (TUS).
